Cardboard
Life size
(Two views)

For this assignment we had to combine two dimensional cross sections of our bodies with some other technique in order to create a life sized self portrait. My piece is about searching for order and structure while simultaneously losing meaning. The pose is ambiguous: is the figure rising up or returning to the ground?

All the cross sections should be accurate to the actual size of my body because I took readings in wire off of my body. This piece took approximately 50 hours to make. The cardboard is joined with hot glue and fishing line. It stands freely without any outside support.

That's really neat. I can tell you put a lot of work into it.

Me: Things can always be worse
Sarah: Until you DIE!
Me: No ... You could die and find out you're going to heaven!
That really is something. Its powerful in its meaning and the use of cardboard, to me, made it interesting.

Nice job :)
